In one of the most shocking moves since Bret Hart’s induction in 2006, Kurt Angle was announced as headliner for the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2017! Wow!
Kurt Angle was one of the biggest stars of WWE’s most successful era, The Attitude Era, transcending that and continuing with the organization through Ruthless Agression and the debut of WWE’s vapid ECW, until asking for his release in 2006.
Angle is one of the last major superstars to have great success with another promotion after leaving WWE. Angle actually spent more time in TNA, (2006-2015) than with his original WWE (1999-2006).
Regardless, his inclusion is a welcome addition and a magnificent surprise to WWE fans. It has been assumed Angle would come back eventually, but not since Warrior has a superstar returned in this fashion, through the Hall. It is not known whether or not Angle will have an on air role, whether in wrestling, GM role or as an analyst. He also could be coming in as a very qualified trainer for NXT.
Welcome back Kurt Angle. I will do a full breakdown, with HOF rating, in a few days.
In the meantime, what do you think about Angle’s induction.
