Rumors from last July have proved true; Rikishi has been announced as the latest member of the WWE Hall of Fame. He follows Macho Man Randy Savage and Arnold Schwarzenegger into the Class of 2015. Unfortunately, Rikishi continues a downward trend started by celebrity inductee Arnold Schwarzenegger (I mean seriously, why?), and is quite underwhelming.
Rikishi, formally known as Fatu, The Sultan, & “Makin A Difference” Fatu, had longevity with the WWE. In one incarnation or another, he stayed with the organization from 1993-2004. Like Hardcore Holly, or Goldust, he was a good hand. But that’s it. Rikishi is a weak Hall of Famer.
He is mostly known for this…..
Weak Hall of Famers like Rikishi, Howard Finkel or Tony Atlas aren’t a catastrophe for the Hall’s credibility, but do serve as a glaring reminder of some sadly overlooked and deserving inductees missing from the Hall. Where is Demolition? Why is Rikishi in before Rick Rude, King Kong Bundy or Kamala?
So far the 2015 Class has been the most disappointing since 2011. Randy Savage is the only current shining light.
I will release my full piece on Rikishi in the next few days. In the meantime, HERE”S THE STINKFACE!!!
